Today in the news: people say stupid things while intoxicated, but we still plan to ruin their lives with jail sentences anyways. 128.210.4.22 (talk) 11:41, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Alcohol releases inhibitions. Sometimes, it can be just one more early warning sign. The investigation ought settle the matter for sure, however. --132.13.10.26 (talk) 14:36, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
If you're stupid enough to get drunk, you were going to have a ruined life either way, either with the drink, or the jail. The government is just ensuring these guys won't harm others while harming themselves. 206.74.5.136 (talk) 16:14, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, I can't agree with that statement as stated. However, if you're stupid enough to get drunk and claim you want to blow up a school, then yeah, your life's probably going to be pretty crappy whether you actually meant it or not. --67.201.57.5 (talk) 16:50, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Whether or not the boys were actually planning to blow up the school is a matter of speculation. Intent is hard to prove in a court of law. I'm glad authorities are responsive when trying to prevent a tragedy but I think these boys need help, professional help, jail will just make them criminals. I was an anguished teen once too, it can be a difficult environment. That said, these school shootings, bombs, etc are a big tragedy that should be avoided at all costs. They're already criminals. That's like worrying that a teenage mother will be exposed to sexual content in a movie. 206.74.5.136 (talk) 01:26, 7 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
They are not 'already criminals'. It has yet to be proven in a court. 71.120.114.83 (talk) 02:05, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Can I just add that the jury took just 45 minutes to laugh the prosecution case out of court, with an experienced QC saying he didn't think he'd ever seen a jury take less time over such serious charges. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 06:38, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
