- Not really. Ever read w:My Country by w:Dorothea Mackellar? Note in particular the line "of droughts and flooding rains" - this was written over 100 years ago. It's more due to the w:El Niño-Southern Oscillation. However, according to the article, the El Niño periods were 97-98, 02-03, 04-05 and 06-07, so it looks like the drought didn't ease off in between the last two like it normally does, which could be a result of human intervention.
