Where are the details of the April 8th, 2011 CR; or more importantly, what was agreed to for the final April 14th vote to complete the 2011 budget??
Why a smiling photo of the man responsible for the shutdown threat? Obama saved the country just now, just as Clinton had to parry the republicans during his tenure.
Well, he's the winner of the skirmish. It makes sense that he would have his picture up there.
Of course the Washington Monument was going to remain open... doesn't Obama realize that the exterior is perhaps the most important part? Nobody cares so much about the interior, and it wasn't as if they were going to throw a tarp over the whole thing!
It's good to know we averted a government shutdown, but what progerams were cut besides planned parenthood, and how will that affect the public?
That doesn't seem clear ATM as details aren't fully out yet. The official deal happens next week.
I am not surprised they "avoided" a shutdown. I am willing to bet that this was all just a game to them and that they all knew it wouldn't shut down. The way I see it is: Shut it down and get these people out of office. Our tax dollars pay for the government to operate and pays their salaries. With that said, there should have been no reason to shut it down. These people get away with money laundering and extortion on a daily basis. If this were me or any other John doing this, we would all be in prison for years. I am ashamed of my government.
