"The World Health Organization has declared the swine flu outbreak a pandemic. As of October 25, 2009, the WHO says there have been more than 440,000 laboratory confirmed cases of H1N1 influenza and more than 5,700 deaths reported to the UN agency."

That is about 1 in 79 dying from contracting the H1N1. That's worse than I thought was expected. At that rate, we will have ({6.7 x 10^6}people x {1 death/79 cases}=) 84,810,126 deaths by this flu strain. Comparative to the 1918 strain of H1N1.

please get the H1N1 vaccine[edit]

It is very important that you get the H1N1 vaccine. As the WHO stated,H1N1 is the dominant flu strain.I expect it remain the main strain of influenza for at least 1 more year, possibly more, and also expect that it will cause additional deaths, including to young, healthy persons without risk factors for severe influenza. Also, even if you are not worried for yourself about the possibilty of contracting H1N1, remember that not only does it help yourself to get immunized it helps your community by providing herd immunity to the H1N1 virus.Immunize (talk) 15:01, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
