Wow. I didn't know wrestling was notable enough to on Wikinews. There has to be some rule against publishing FAKE entertainment
- I didn't think it was myself, but talking with a couple of notable administrators and editors here, they were very excited to see it added, so I decided to take the risk. I realize that there are aspects of it which doesn't appear to hold the same standards as other journalistic endeavors these days. Apparently it has been forgotten that up until the explosion of television media in the 1950s, newspapers across the globe heavily promoted professional wrestling in its sport pages, and occasionally at the lead story, all with the full knowledge that aspects of it were more entertainment than sports, more scripted than real. With television, the wrestling promoters had direct access to a national audience, if not a global one, and could deliver through audio and video the ideas, action and emotions that a newspaper article could not, so the excitement for writing about professional wrestling in major publications waned

How is this news? When has something so blatantly scripted ever been considered news?

While I like Wrestling, I will say no to it being reported in the News[edit]
As pro wrestling is a scripted show event, deciding to allow pro wrestling to report as Wikinews is indicating to other audience that other TV shows should be open to Wikinews too, as in report the latest stories lines of TV Heroes and Lost in details, which doesn't make any sense.
Given the large numbers of wrestling news site out there providing the show summary/results like ProWrestlingInsider as well as WWE own's offical website I see no reason there is a need of it being reported on Wikinews unless it is something extremely unusal happened. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.132.3.11 (talk) 03:13, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
