Why is the modern U.K. even claiming territory in Ireland? Taxes? Any lost tax revenue ought to be made up for with increased trade and lower security costs from leaving completely and settling the long running conflict. Anyone living there who would want to stay British could and simply change status to that of living in the new Ireland (full island) as a foreign resident. - But, It's the choice of the people of Northern Ireland, the majority want to stay British. 92.12.116.174 14:41, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yep, indeed. I think it is divided 60% / 40% or something, the former wanting to stay British.
