On Tuesday, Dutch police said they arrested three people in connection to an explosion occurring the over the previous weekend that destroyed a three-story apartment block in the city of the Hague, South Holland, Netherlands and killed six people.[Source]

They were expected to make appearances in court later in the week.

The cause of the explosion remained unknown. Police said there was no drug laboratory present in any of the buildings, and the compound's gas vendor asserted to Dutch media that there had not been a gas leak.[Source]

A suspicious car was reportedly seen "speeding away" from the scene following the explosion. The BBC reported that although several vehicles had been impounded in relation to the arrests, it was currently unknown if they are connected to the explosion, or if one of them was the car that was seen leaving the scene.

Police said further arrests in connection to the incident "cannot be ruled out."[Source]

Condolences were extended to the victims of the explosion by the Dutch Royal Family, who released a statement saying, "We sympathise with all those who have been personally affected or who fear for the fate of their loved ones".
