Code for this is from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Loginend. Have removed the variables to do some fiddling to try to get it to work. If you dont like this then feel free to delete/remove i don't mind i just think it would be a good thing to do in light of recent events. --MarkTalk 16:52, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ahah ive got it i think. should now work for secure and normal login. --MarkTalk 18:14, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think the secure link is going to stop phishing. The chance that someone is eavesdropping on your login session is next to zero, and the secure one is still vulnerable to being eavesdropped as the cert isn't signed. Bawolff 03:14, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've modified this to make it slightly better, as before it had the wrong url for secure (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wiki/special:userlogin is not wikinews) and previously if someone takes a copy of the database, and isntalls it on their own wiki, the make sure your on this page link will change to reflect the website they're currently on. Now it will display a big scary warning if {{SERVER}} doesn't equal a wikimedia server. The downside to this is if there is another wikimedia server i don't know about, or if the devs change the url syntax for the secure server, then we'll have a lot of freaked out users. Also, if someone takes wikinews, and replaces every instance of wikinews with the name of their new site, this warning won't warn people, however in that case, they're probably not pretending to be us, so it should be okay.
