Talk:"Camp Casey" moves to safer land, as Mother's protest continues
Add topicCan someone explain the quotes via semicolon, i.e.
- Joe said;"blah."
Am I just ignorant of some convention?
What is the source for the comment by Greg Müller? Why is it included in the article? It relates only by subject and not of the specific event. There does however seem to be an aspect of larger maneuvering involved with this entire affair that deserves an entry of its own; to collect the varied disparate bits implying it from the other entries and provide a framework for them independent from entries of other aspect focus. I have located an article mentioning the quote and provide link to possibly use as source if quote is deemed necessary or as possibly one of several for a new article: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2005-08-16-sheehan-unnerved_x.htm. I am unable to submit long comments (article edits, lengthy discussion posts) without receiving error.
This story is way unbalanced and sympathetic to Sheehan and her cause. The only quote in opposition to her is identified as being by a "conservative public-relations executive." No mention is made of the PR firm that MoveOn.org hired to assist her efforts.
- So? Your quite free to provide more detailed information about the identity of said PR executive. I don't see a place for the MoveOn comment here, but you should be able to get that into one of the other two stories about this topic. Nyarlathotep 15:13, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
- Regarding the comment that we should avoid an item which "relates only by subject and not of the specific event", I disagree. This would prevent portraying a neutral point of view. For example, only portraying the event of an incarceration, without bringing in things related to the subject (like the crimes and trial that resulted in the imprisonment), would make all jail time seem wrong. - You example is a bit of an exaggeration. Here MoveOn is only vaguely related to the "conservative PR executive," not to moving the camp. OTOH, MoveOn is obviously quite relevant to the article on Casey gaining more widespread attention, so it should be put there. Nyarlathotep 16:49, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
- I do agree this story is unbalanced, portraying people who disagree with Sheehan as violent and/or vandals, for example. However, as Bush has largely remained silent on the issue, the best I could do to show his side is that last paragraph. If anyone else finds some relevant Bush administration quotes, please include them. StuRat 20:06, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
- Nahh, its quite balanced, at least it mentions the family relationship between the guy with the gun and the new host. Plus, everyone knows about hicks and pickup trucks.
