Banned books in the USA? I don't really get it, doesn't that interfere with the otherwise so high-held freedom of speech? Could somebody explain on what legal basis books can be banned?

have you read the page to which is linked? it usually is about books not appearing on lists of books student should / can read for their school. it's not like they aren't allowed to be read or sold in general. Boneyard 08:35, 29 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
The other issue that comes up is the removal of these "banned" books from libraries, especial school libraries. They are removed because of parent complaints about them being available to students; anyone including students is still free to read these books, if they get the copy elsewhere. Most of the time the book just starts to require parental permission to check out. --Cspurrier 11:54, 29 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
