Original reporting[edit]

is watching it on Tv original reporting?--Whywhywhy 12:11, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think (and I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer this) yes - if you watched the match. Brian McNeil / talk 12:21, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Guys, can you delete this comment of mine and fill in something about the original reporting. Watched on which channel, match times, anything you can think of. Brian McNeil / talk 13:18, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Publishing[edit]

can some one publish it. i cant figure out what ima doing wrong --Whywhywhy 13:08, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think the date is wrong on this. When I refreshed the main page it came up under yesterday's news. All edits are done today - as far as GMT is concerned. Brian McNeil / talk 13:39, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Title (Headline changed)[edit]

Just a suggestion -- shouldn't the title say Soccer or Football in it somewhere? I suggest: Australia Qualifies for Soccer World Cup. -

FIFA calls the game "football", but since there are several "World Cups", if you do include a modifier for "World Cup", I'd suggest "FIFA World Cup™". That's my advice after reading a bit of FIFAworldcup.com. However, you probably don't want to list that site as a source since all content is copyright. Yes, the TV broadcast was probably copyright, too - but reporting what you saw is a lot closer to fair use than quoting and sourcing written material. Maybe the current headline is good enough? I would have to agree. the addition of FIFA wouldn't be upset AFL fans or NRL or soccer fans :) and defines it better.--Whywhywhy 05:25, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations, by the way. If it weren't for these stories, I'd have no clue what was going on in the rest of the world. 07:33, 17 November 2005 (UTC) I see that Boneyard took my advice and changed the headline. That one option was the biggest reason I registered here as headlines are often not written very clearly the first time. I suppose writing a good headline is an artform.
