I can't find the homepage in question, does anyone have a link? --Tarka 09:20, 15 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I've added references. A major Australian newspaper is now serving the document in question: [Sydney Morning Herald] and their [copy of the bill], so it is probably okay to upload it to Wikinews, in that the AU govt goes on the rampage they will have bigger targets than Wikinews.

This is a huge story, imo, because the future of Australian democracy is at stake. Ramming through legislation quickly is how the US government came under the control of a strong-willed minority of control freaks. Neutralizer 11:16, 15 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I've added a point that Australia has no "freedom of speach". So making it illegal to critizise the govn't is pretty big. Wisty 08:15, 16 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Shocking! Hitler's Germany in the 30's; Stalin's Russia in the 40's

[edit]

See Wisty's comment above. Can you imagine not being able to openly criticize your government? Hitler's Germans could not, Stalin's Russians could not, Saddam's Iraqis could not, The chinese and north Korean people can not. Do you want to join them??????? I urge lovers of freedom in Australia to hit the streets right now; surround your parliament buildings and stay there until your political leaders withdraw this fascist legislation. This could be the last chance you have....if you don't care, think about your kids and your grandkids; growing up afraid to speak their mind or to protest a bad government...don't wait another second...do it now!
