Those familiar with contemporary Chinese history know that this is not nonsense. Perhaps DV knows. Please do not be so quick to judge things as "nonsense." Most Wiki contributors are ren zhen, lao shi (honest and earnest). Being so quick to delete can easily lead to the slippery slope of intolerance/conformism. Thank you, user 70.57.139.181, for setting me straight that this story is not nonsense. And you certainly made my case harder by citing high-school newspaper articles and other types of mockery and derision to prove it is not nonsense!
If your headline had been a little more genuine, such as China, US, trade barbs on human rights, and then gone so far as to write the story, we wouldn't be chatting so pleasantly in here today. Not to mention that it is nearly a month old. Have a nice day. And it only takes a minute to sign in as a real person. --Alan J. Franklin 14:59, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for flagging this story, Alan.
And mei wenti, 70.57.139.181!
Please consider that dumping a bunch of links and expecting others to do all the work is a bit baffling.
If you are too busy, why not save your links on your user page for later, until you are ready to write the story?

Wikinews is collaborative, but I have no idea how to proceed with a random collection of links - I can't read your mind.
Please, at a bare minimum, provide an outline of the high points you want the story to cover, so others can jump in and fill in what's missing.
But it's really better if you start an article to at least write one or two paragraphs to get it started. — DV 15:46, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the pretty decent little piece on this story. No further objections. --Alan J. Franklin 14:45, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I'm not sure what is so "controversial" in claiming that that the US are violating human rigths. Just to let people know, it is very evident that the US are violating human rights on many sectors. I'm really worried if this comes as a surprise to someone - I think this has been a widely acknowledged fact outside the States for several years. The Amnesty International is a world-wide 'human rights watch-dog organization.' Every year, they publish a report on human right issues in every and each country of world. The 2004 report on the United States is not easy reading; really severe violations on areas where the armed forces are having a war (especially in the Guantanamo Bay), general misbehaviour against international peace, bad ill-treatment of immigrants, ill-treatment and excessive use of force by law enforcement officials, ripping people off civil rights and liberties after the 9/11 attacks and continued use of death penalty, which is in direct breach with the 3rd article (right to life). Maybe China's record is even worse, but no one is to deny that the US are heavily violating rigths of millions of people - in the US and around the globe. See also this. Hydrox 22:04, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)
