The word Thoughtpolice comes from Orwell's 1984, and has very negative connotations. I don't think it's very NPOV. Jacoplane 14:04, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Besides, isn't Microsoft just abiding by Chinese law? Note: personally, I do think this is a case of thought police, though the main problem here is the chinese govt, not microsoft. Jacoplane 14:13, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Also, when google was blocked, they also complied with requests from the govt [1]. Jacoplane 14:15, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Well...

[edit]

It was un-professionable of me to use the word «thoughtpolice», but I am reading Nineteen Eighty-Four and couldn't help it.

I am angry at the Chinese Government, so I probably shouldn't be writing this article. I have now cleaned it up.

Thanks

I REALLY appreciate you adding the catagories! If there is anything else I can do to ready this article for publishing, please tell me.

The history that you walk through has a bit of POV. If that POV is taken out, it's ready for publication. You can sign your name with for tildes (~~~~. NGerda 18:07, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)

Accuracy

[edit]

Where in the source articles does it say that MSN employees will be reading blogs under supervision of Chinese censors? I only see mention of a popup saying "prohibited expression, delete it". -- IlyaHaykinson 01:51, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I attempted to correct the article for NPOV, accuracy. -- IlyaHaykinson 02:15, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

China may be the model for our own web-future

[edit]

I've noticed how, in some ways, the US is becoming more like Kuwait than vice-versa; e.g. bringing in cheap foreign workers to do all the dirty work.

I heard on CNN yesterday that Microsoft has taken the word "democracy" out of the Chinese system(s)..hummm. In case anyone hasn't noticed, the U.S. congress is paying less and less attention to what the majority of Americans feel about important issues (82% of Americans are opposed to "free-trade" deals). Congress just caters to the lobbyists (8 per congressman) for the companies that get money to themselves and their pals. Paulrevere2005 12:28, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
