Talk:Chinese researchers crack major U.S. government algorithm used in digital signatures
Add topicAppearance
I just changed the title of this article from this: "Chinese researchers crack major security code used in U.S. government digital signatures"
The old title is wrong for two reasons:
- SHA-1 is not a "code." It is an algorithm. There is no encryption involved, so "code" is not correct.
- The algorithm was created by the U.S. government, but it is used by the whole world in digital signatures. Thus, "in U.S. government digital signatures" is wrong.

[edit]The fact that the cryptanalysts are female is fairly notable, so I put it back in. -- IlyaHaykinson 03:47, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)
