Original research[edit]

This part should be confirmed (doesn't open in my browser): As of 3:27 AM, January 20, 2007, China Standard Time, the movie has been watched 1,993,567 times on a single site (6rooms.com) and received 1620 comments.

That's probably due to the recent Taiwan/Japan earthquakes so that Americans can't access this Chinese video site temoporarily. However, you can ask a friend in China to verify it.

The rest can be confirmed by watching the movie.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 17:18, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

News?[edit]

Is this really news??

Not Likely...the link is not in english and this computer cannot read the link so I am not sure, but I imagine not. DragonFire1024 18:52, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

it is. your browser needs Flash plugin to watch the movie in that URL. the movie will soon go on YouTube.

The movie has been watched 1,993,303 times on a single site (6rooms.com, a video sharing site in China), and received 1618 comments.

The URL might be temporarily busy at times. Use this torrent link if you can't watch it live: http://www.hugedv.com/007.rar

As Brianmc said, an outline of a film is not news...DragonFire1024 19:35, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This is not an ordinary film. It has become an educational phenomenon in China's online space, and its international effect is yet to come.
I still think that this is not a news story and that it should be deleted or moved to a sister site in my view.
Just give it some time and wait for the english-subtitled version to appear at YouTube.com and it will be great news.
Well the story should be added then when as you say "it will be...news" --86.136.225.72 19:56, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Is there a "will-be news" option at WikiNews?
Yes, see the news room tool bar on the right.--86.136.225.72 19:58, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It was "News in Development" but someone moved it to "News in Dispute". can anyone help me move it back?

it is KIM JONG IL, not KIM JONG II.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.59.219.179 (talkcontribs) 06:38, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed the title. Bawolff :-)(-: 06:37, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"Il" should be capitalised; moved the page as appropriate. Blast 20,01,07 1557 (UTC -5)
Wikipedia disagrees with you (well actual they say either is okay - w:Kim Jong Il Bawolff 23:31, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not News[edit]

Is this really news? Outlining a video making fun of a leader is not news. Letterman, Saturday Night Live, MAD TV and Jay Leno all make fun of him with videos...does that mean its news? DragonFire1024 21:00, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The 2 million views give the impression that it's important over there... anyway I think the entire explanation of the movie could be shortened drastically.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 01:31, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have to agree... rather lame.

It's news now... check this out. Kareeser|Talk! 07:04, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Review?[edit]

News is about controversies. Is there one here? You can also maybe make reviews, but this isn't a review either. Ain't thinking wrong with spoilers per se, such as saying that Kim Jong Il is poisoned, but you need to be either reviewing it or talking about a contraversy. I previously removed this sentence: "The movie has become a groundbreaking educational phenomenon in China's online space and its international effect is yet to come." I guess this was an original story with a user who's no longer backing it up or available to explain... A search on the internet doesn't reveal much more... I guess the news is that it's a popular video... pretty poor indeed but I found it amusing. We could remove the description, or delete is. Found some blogs reporting on it but they all say the same, doesn't seem like worth mentioning. How do you suggest reviewing?--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 18:26, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well its been published for long enough now that we can just leave it maybe. A review is usually not neutral since its the reviewers opinions, but there are plenty of things one can imagine talking about, such as photography style, pop culture references, audience reaction, etc. None of these would be news by themselves but the review as a whole could be. Nyarlathotep 23:29, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh you mean that kinda review? I don't feel much for it. But time after publishing isn't a real argument if you still want to list it for deletion imo.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 00:09, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
