It seems unlikely to me to be a record. Let a woman have a child every second year from age 18 to 32 (that's 8 children), and let each child do the same. At age 62, she'll have 106 offspring, and at age 70, 234. At 90, if no-one has died (the oldest child is now 72), it would be 1269!

OK, make that just 5 children, born every third year from age 18 to 30. At 72, she'd have 103, and at age 90, she's got 346 offspring (5 children, 25 grandchildren, 125 great-grandchildren, 190 great-great- and great-great-great-grandchildren, and 1 new-born great-great-great-great-grandchild)!

Of course, child mortality should be considered, and not all sons and daughters (and grandchildren etc.) may be equally productive. But 5 children with 3 years' interval could be 10 children born every 1.5 year, half of them either dying or just not getting any children.--83.92.94.78 09:26, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
