Here is an explanation of everything here that is original, based on what I learned while visiting the birds myself:

  • The 'Birdwatchers at the site said...' line
  • What the signs say
  • Birdwatchers are undetered and arriving from accross the UK
  • The location of the birders versus the location of the birds
