Someone want to post a picture with this article? One possibility might be the 7/8 member country flags arranged in a 3x3 table with "G8" or "G7" in the middle. - McCart42 16:46, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)

good timing by someone - thanks for posting a picture. Still think it might be a good idea to have a quick "G7/G8" stock graphic lying around though - if I get a chance I'll make it. - McCart42 16:51, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)
<grin> Yah, that was me... but we need a more legit graphic. That one is clearly watermarked as an AP photo, which I didn't realize until after I'd loaded it at commons... (got it from VOA). We need a clear G7/G8 set of stock photos on Commons (along with every other international organization we can think of.) - Amgine 16:54, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)

"failing to agree"?

[edit]

So did the G7 agree or not agree on a plan? All the refs point to the member nations agreeing on a plan - I've removed the "failing to" and will conclude copyedit. - McCart42 18:47, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Hi McCart42, It's a little controversial. They say that they are agreeing, but really all they've agreed on at this meeting was that they need to provide some sort of debt relief, which was something that everyone agreed on a long time ago. All the significant details of the debt relief are still under contention.

My impression is that the British are pushing a plan, and so they want to act like the other 6 countries are agreeing. However, the US is definitely balking. The Financial Times article does a good job of describing the disagreement.

I tried to make our article a little clearer, but it still isn't great. Pingswept 13:48, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
