Prodi's resignation dismissed??[edit]

I am not sure the article gets it clear. Prodi resigned, and his resignation was accepted. Then, as usual when it is necessary to find a new government, the President of the Republic asket to political parties whom they wanted as "new" President of the Council of Ministres, and the majority proposed Prodi again. This is why he needs a confidence vote (otherwise not requested), and this is why he will eventually lead a different govenment ("Prodi III").--151.44.124.230 22:32, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That does not seem to be what the bbc or wikipedia says. Bawolff 22:55, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But if he did not resign, why should consultations be needed? Note also that oppositors asked for elections, which is clearly something you can not have with a government still in duty.
Wikipedia relies on BBC article. BBC article clearly states "Mr Prodi resigned on Wednesday after losing a vote on troops in Afghanistan" and that "I will present myself before the parliament as soon as possible to seek its confidence", which, as I said, is necessary only when a government is to be started (or needs to pass a controversial law).--Panairjdde 23:25, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, now it is clear, he rejected the resignation: [1].--Panairjdde 23:35, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
