Do you really mean to say that the sensor reading was ``recorded during the tuesday june 12th status briefing? I watched the status briefing live over nasatv and at the time they were just reporting on the reading. The thinking was the reading is likely erroneous but that for good measure they would do a final inspection anyway as originally planned for all missions.

The sources said the warning went off during the briefing. Just because you did not see alarm in the NASA officials does not mean to say that's not the case. DragonFire1024 04:18, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And I share some concern about this statement as well. I don't fully remember, but I think the alarm went of during the june 11th status briefing and was reported on the june 12th briefing. But i'd have to look that up. 130.89.169.27 10:41, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is this article really needed ? In the same briefing they said they have seen this before and it's most likely a sensor glitch and that they have seen this regularly since the sensors have been installed since Columbia. They think this is a glitch because the "impact" is only registered by one sensor and impacts usually "fan out" across multiple sensors (stone thrown in puddle effect). The inspection of any such sensor trigger is now checked by routine, but the chance of there having been an actual impact is thought to be unlikely.

Ergo any newssource that makes news of this is totally blowing it out of proportion and throwing speculative data at readers just to get more readers trough sensation news. The failure of the Russian flight control computers, where the Shuttle took full control of the ISS complex maneuvering, subsequently low power status of the station and fire alarms due to the reboot of the russian part of the station; was much more important news and reported in the SAME STS-117 briefing and no one is talking about that news. w:en:User:TheDJ 130.89.169.27 10:30, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DragonFire's instability seems to be proven by his reversion of legitimate criticism from at least two other Wiki users in this discussion on the legitimacy of this manufactured story. His abuse of administrator status is rather disgusting. 72.29.211.18 03:38, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
