I emailed them both. Brian has seen the one from Craig, and possibly Bernard's answers. --Nzgabriel | Talk 07:32, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

site quote grammar[edit]

I know that the quote “We will put paid to bloated government bureaucracy and its authoritarian inclinations.” is directly from the party's site, and excuse me if I'm unaware of different NZ grammar, but does this sentence even make sense? We will put paid? Wikisoup 18:54, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to the free dictionary, "Put paid" means "To put an end to" or "To defeat; to cause the defeat of".[1] So I'm pretty sure this is correct grammar. Perhaps we can add the free dictionary's link to the word "put paid" on the quote in the article. Also, I've heard this word used before, when I read the quote it sounded okay to me.
