Several significant points here-

The scale and speed of growth in number of radical Muslims, particularly youth.

The Head of MI5's view that 'history' (Afghanistan/Iraq) has a role in promoting radicalisation.

(Now, on BBC News 10.15 pm Nov. 10, it is reported that the speech by Dame Eliza was 'cleared' with Downing Street before being delivered).

Blair's insistence that this has been going on for a long time - i.e. before the wars in which he played an important role

Beckett's appeal to the Muslim community - which when made by Reid provoked outrage in many quarters (cannot find a Wikinews report on that) as it was seen as a 'with us or against us' kind of threat to Muslim communities. The Reid suggestion was interpreted as inviting Muslims to 'spy' on their children.

All very interesting.. Fentonrobb 22:28, 10 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
