This is the first WikiNews article I've written. Improvements are welcome.

I included information about the fund created in his honor. I'm not sure if that's ok, but it was listed in mainstream press.

I also wasn't sure which terms should be cross-linked or if I should leave them as local links or cross-link to places with more information. For instance, should the form of cancer which killed him, alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, be linked to Wikipedia?

It looks more or less ok to me. As for local links versus cross links, allow me to explain. We would only use a local link for something hich a category exists for - examples include United Kingdom or Lordi. Here, cross-namespace redirects are permitted to take people accross to the relevant category (there's a policy against it on Wikipedia, don't know if you know). Anything else that people might reasonably be expected to want information on should go to Wikipedia articles. Links can potentially go to any other Wikimedia site, but realisticaly the only other use of cross linking might be some obscure word linked to Wiktionary. Approximately 1/4 million people tried to access the server where his blog is yesterday. That included normal traffic, but it was significant enough to cause the hosting organization problems and cause noticable access problems. Every child's death is sad, but I wouldn't propose that everyone's be posted to here or Wikipedia. But not every child writes something read that widely and affecting enough people that it makes national news multiple times during his life. It's not so much whether his death is newsworthy, but whether his life was. And after this discussion, I think it was. When I get the time, I'll write something for Wikipedia.
