Accidental?[edit]

Title is utterly POV Brian | (Talk) | New Zealand Portal 04:29, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

I disagree - the facts (admitted by Israeli military) are that ambulances carrying the Red Cross have been fired upon by Israeli forces. This is all that the headline says. Unless there's some way you can blow up ambulances with your missiles by NOT attacking them... 203.221.158.232 06:29, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

"attack" in active voice implies that the strike was intentional, which doesnt appear to be borne out by sources. am changing headline (which aslo has one grammatical error, btw) accordingly. Doldrums 07:44, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
*if* they used guided missiles, then how can it be unintentional, unless the missile failed? And if the missile failed - do you fire missiles into areas in which red cross vehicles are operating? --82.141.51.111 09:52, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Even with guided weapon you can miss your target.
Wikinews is here to report news, not to write Science-Fiction with *if* (i fo love Sci-Fi) Jacques Divol 10:16, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
I wrote that missiles can miss the target and asked if regarding international law it is acceptable to fire missiles into areas, where the red cross is operating. But nevermind - not in the mood for rethoric discussions with people with an agenda. --82.141.51.111 10:31, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Why?[edit]

Am I the only person who remembers the Israeli forces pulling up Red Cresent Ambulances in the WEest Bank and Gaza, and dragging the Palestinians out of them, in case they were being used to transport weapons? Israel does not have a good track record of respecting the Red Cross/ Red Cresent. Are we to believe they wern't "attacking" these ambulances with their high-tech smart bombs? 203.221.158.232 21:43, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

an I the only person who remembers the palestinians using red crescent/red cross ambulances to transport combatants and munitions ? Palestinians do not have a good track record of respecting red crescent/red cross. Are we to believe the weren't using there ambulances to transport arms? 80.232.117.113 06:12, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

i remember, but i do not remember if proof have been shown about this usage of Red Cross Ambulance. Anyway i do not think it gives the right to attack red cross ambulances, or use Red Cross ambulance as troop transport. As i said war is a cruel thing, i know that many rules, conventions was writen to try to "humanize" war but battlefield is always another matter, choice have to be taken urgently, and sometime (often) it's not the good one ... Jacques Divol 06:46, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
All I can offer is that Robert Fisk's book The Great War for Civilisation describes an attack on an ambulance being used to ferry civilians. Which does show that ambulances are misused, though that's not to say he claims they are used for ferrying arms. What is clear is that Israel believes that ambulances are used for military purposes. unrelated news[edit]

But it gives, maybe i am wrong, some clues how Israel manage relations this Red Cross : here a press release frm Red Cross : [ICRC calls on Israeli army to immediately leave Palestine Red Crescent premises in Nablus]. i do not know if Israel Army leaves the premises now.

Of course Red Crosses people are often in the middle of the battlefield in order to save lives, not hidden into well cooled hotel.

War is a bad think and kill people even whith hightech weapons, it's the main problem. Jacques Divol 10:13, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

hijacking of ambulance[edit]

I cant se the relevance of adding this as it dont in anyway give Israel a excuse to attack ICRC marked ambulances. As I see it its a warcrime. It is of cause a crime to use 'ambulances' in military operations also. international 00:59, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

This is a hoax[edit]

These ambulances were not hit by Israeli missiles http://www.zombietime.com/fraud/ambulance/Jwalter 14:08, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Not really: See this Downer blogged down on hoax, this Red Cross rocket snares Downer and this Australian Foreign Minister's unfounded faith in the internet.--Tequendamia 05:01, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
:-). YOU should see those articles. Compare the articles. Mr. Chulov is telling bullshit stories. speeding or stationary, Apache or drone, canopy or back ramp etc. etc. See this: http://michellemalkin.com/archives/005843.htm and this : http://timblair.net/ee/index.php/weblog/comments/missile_story_iv. —Jwalter 08:35, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
