[edit]

I was handed along a message/wallop in IRC stating the following: 18:43 [freenode] -!- WALLOP RichiH: Hi all. As you will surely have heard, there was a major earthquake in Peru. It seems Richard 'RMS' Stallmann was travelling from Lima to Chimbote with Mario Ramos on August 15th and no one has heard from him since. If you have any information, please email rms-assist@gnu.org or poke us in #freenode.

I also was handed the links to the e-mails from some users in #freenode on IRC.

I have e-mailed Stallman. If he replies, then obviously the reports are false :) DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 03:52, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Seeing as he is active on the emacs mailing-list

[edit]

Reports of his vanishing seem to be greatly exaggerated.

who gives a damn? a lot of people live in Peru
Very true, however, rms is fairly well-known. It's not like it's being called the 'rms Quake' or something. -Kyevan 13:00, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
The probability of a celebrity, already a rare event, and his random positioning in Peru together with the fact that the free software movement

isn't likely to be stopped due to him going missing really make this un-note worthy.
