It's about time someone stood up to the U.S. government instead of bending over backwards.

1This man's crazy. Maybe it's time to push that Doomsday Clock forward...--67.72.98.106 08:10, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Maybe not that extreme. I don't think he's quite so bad as that other idiot world leader. Yet. Though, admittedly, this is approaching it.
One thing though, "The U.S. states that the planned defense system is to stop incoming nuclear missiles from North Korea and Iran." If that's the case, why are they building them this way. I can see no reason why North Korea would attack over two continents, then an ocean, when the only thing in the way the other side is one, albeit large, ocean. And in my personal opinion, I won't believe Iran has the capability to make it half way round the globe with their missiles yet, even if they have developed nuclear technology. Based on this, I can, at least, understand Russia's concerns, even if I think Putin's way of "dealing" with it is a tad idiotic and excessive. --86.154.69.238 21:46, 4 June 2007 (UTC).
The missle defense is being deployed to protect NATO allies from Iranian missiles. Many of the new NATO countries are within Iran's reach. --SVTCobra 22:19, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Russia has some kind of inside dealings with Iran and nuclear technology. IMHO this could be a move to defend Iran...maybe an "allied force." DragonFire1024 18:05, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Sounds like the same kind of paranoia that led to the first cold war, IMHO.
