Placeholder[edit]

This is a placeholder-article. I contacted Lambdaistanbul (see article's sources), a Turkish GLBT organization, for more information so I can publish this. Towsonu2003 22:06, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not publishing this yet because I think you'll deny it on the basis that
  • The single source is in Turkish
  • The single source is not a so-called neutral organization
  • Other than that, in case you'd want to publish this, until I get more information from the organization, the content of this article pretty much summarizes the content of the orgazniation's press release Towsonu2003 22:20, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was just about to publish this until I read the talk page... good story! If the single source is a press release than it's logical that there aren't much other sources... I think the stories needs some background to the nature of the new proposition. Good story!--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 23:44, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, I got no responses from the organization. Please publish if you think it's okay as it is now. I'll tag it so. Towsonu2003 19:54, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have published the article. FellowWikiNews (W) (sign here!) 03:05, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
great thanks -PS. still no response from the organization (email still isn't the mode of conversation in Turkey though; they probably aren't looking at their emails at all) Towsonu2003 04:16, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem. This article would have been deleted (not by me, probably by some pro-deletionist) if it were not published by me. FellowWikiNews (W) (sign here!) 04:19, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Afaik, we have no policy against single source articles in another langauge, that would be silly, but obviously there are ways to make other editors feel like they know what is going on, such as translation links and what not, and this does make life simpler. Question[edit]

What is Lambda Istanbul? I think this needs explained. You might draw some background from Wikipedia if there are appropriate articles you could link to with wikipediapar or external links. --Brian McNeil / talk 22:34, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was going to expand the article after getting a response from the organization but I got no reponse. So I'll leave this as it is now. The wikilink in the article to gay rights in turkey should give some insight to the user. As for the background, there is a pedophilia scare (something never happened in turkey before) and the government is using that to force censorship into our throats (just like any other government would do)... I can't include this to the article though, because I don't know of any media agency that was brave enough or intelligent enough to tell it as it is (corporations arent always the brightest bunch) Towsonu2003 19:54, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You can quote some blog, just not your own (if you have one) and not excesively. Nyarlathotep 20:23, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Press release[edit]

Hint: Press releases are issued ;-) I figure telling you rather than fixing it might help you remember this odd difference that occurs in English. --Brian McNeil / talk 22:41, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

lol, thanks :) Towsonu2003 23:49, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The press releases are to be issued on Feb 3rd - check with the external link please. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 139.147.209.224 (talkcontribs) 02:19, January 31, 2007
