Original reporting

[edit]

The Original reporting is that I tried it on several browsers to verify it was true and I also discovered the Opera user agent spoofing, and the emulator option. It is a weak case for OR because for the most part the information can be found in other sources, but I discovered it before I read the sources that included that information. :) --Cspurrier 17:05, 8 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Looks good, but you're right on the original reporting claim being weak. Perhaps you could do a bit more research, on which versions of Windows are supported, and whether Netscape and the AOL browser (IE based) work at the site. That would be enough for me to vote you an original reporting credit. StuRat 19:50, 8 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
I checked it in Netscape and I got the same error, since I do not have AOL, I can not test it in the AOL browser, but I would expect it to work on the Windows version of AOL. The Windows XP requirement came from one of the sources (arstechnica). After researching it a bit more I am not sure why they make that statement, IE 6 appears to support down to Windows 95 on a 486 with 16mb RAM. --Cspurrier 20:04, 8 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Ok, add that info to the article and you've got your extra credit. StuRat 20:39, 8 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Done. --Cspurrier 01:08, 9 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Windows XP ?

[edit]

You said Windows was required, then later implied that Windows XP was. Which versions of Windows are supported ? StuRat 19:45, 8 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Fixed

[edit]

Runs well on Firefox here. -- NGerda 01:04, September 9, 2005 (UTC)

Still not working on Opera on Linux, to get to the page that does not work click Register for Assistance, go through the Captcha and see the error :) --Cspurrier 01:11, 9 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Firefox doesn't work for me, but then again, I also have Java disabled and the error message does say JavaScript must be enabled, so that might be it. StuRat 01:26, 9 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Page loads without issues for me using Firefox 1.0.6 on Windows ME Slark 02:39, 9 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

The linked page "loads" for me in a sense on Firefox (Deer Park), but clicking on the link for online assistance just refreshes the page. I tested it with IE and the link actually worked rather than just refreshing the page. Theshibboleth 04:39, 9 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Running Firefox 1.0.6 on MacOS 10.2.8:

  • Passing Netscape 6.2 on Linux with NoScript allowing fema.gov, got error page.
  • Passing Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP with NoScript allowing fema.gov, got to form.

More detailed information available if requested. Jobarts-Talk 06:13, 9 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Use of "alternative" in photo caption

[edit]

The photo caption says that the FEMA website does not display in "alternative" browsers. This seems to implie that IE is the default, which is not really true of newer macs. Of course IE is still being used by about 90% of web users, but still there is probably a more precise term that could be used instead. Theshibboleth 09:15, 9 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. Change was made in caption and in body of text, where word was also used. StuRat 11:12, 9 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Spoofing

[edit]

I have spoken to a number of people that say the spoofing does NOT work. It will allow you to complete the form until the final step. At that point, the submission fails. Has anyone that done the spoofing completed the ENTIRE process? Jebba 07:41, 23 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

News?

[edit]

Sorry but I fail to see how this is considered news, please enlighten me. Don't get me wrong, I think FEMA needs a kick in the ass, but it seems like its pretty trendy to bash FEMA atm. --Static 08:31, 23 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

I see FEMA offering aid in a way which locks out many people to be definite news. How is it not news ? StuRat 12:45, 23 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
