Writing the start for this article I was mirroring the sources a little in their presentation of this issue. It strikes me as biased, though. Mentioning the fact that the video was of a bribe the not mentioning till later that there was a possible legitimate reason etc., is coaching the reader. Don't have the time to edit it now though, hope someone else gets on it. --119 23:20, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Silencing[edit]

I do not live in the USA, I never did. So I might be wrong. But does it not seem, that lately the USA have lost much of theyr freedom of speach? When was the last time you saw anybody complaint about a security control? To chanlange an officer at an airport control or any other security post? My last visit to the US. The security officer asked me to open my bag, as I did not do it, with the speed HE thought I should, he started to aprehend and treat me like a terrorist. Not to mention that he treatened me just because I talked back to him. Where is free speach when you can not even have respect from the autorities. Do you feel secure enought to question an security officer?

I live in the USA. There is not even a presumption of freedom of speech anymore. You can not say what you want and you must be very careful how much volume or anger is in your voice. Even security guards in a mall can apprehend you for "disorderly conduct." Local police forces are feared and have no independence from the judiciary. This is the case in New Jersey. I expect it is worse in less educated parts of the country. It has long been the case, but it used to be that if you "knew your rights," you could prevail. Now you prevail if you support the political regime, is what I have found in the communities of Monmouth County that are rated the best places to live in the country. And I am a native. The immigrants that were more than tolerated for the labor they provide until the recent wave of outcry by "quality-of-lifers," who tend to also be right-to-lifers, are the real victims. They are in jail or deported for going about their daily peaceful business. I have gotten away with a few thousand dollars in fines and community service that I would appreciate feedback of ideas for. What does anyone suggest, for 32 days that will change this situation? Not just the police, but half the constituency, believe you hate your country if you disagree with the direction it has taken. I think it is too late for education. The connection of religion and government has gone from annoying to insidious. The architects of 9/11 have succeeded...reporting from Ground Zero, Dec 22, 2004

Hi it's me again. I just had to add this:

Lawyers And Judges Set To Argue About Arguing {Associated Press, Dec. 6, 2004} TRENTON, N.J. -- Lawyers and federal judges in New Jersey are preparing to argue over new rules that would largely outlaw ... arguing...

thought that was to the point. I got it at http://peace.wikicities.com/index.php/Feast_Room
