Editorial by 129.81.185.26[edit]

"Many have said", "generally known", "Some think" , "The critics", "They cite", "kind of forced" are some examples of vague references to "them". The last paragraph isn't much on information, but instead reads more like an editorial. Would anyone like to re-word some of this? I certainly think the last paragraph needs re-working. Many have said that this type of operation is generally known as propaganda. Some think that what was said, by Vice President Cheney is a euphemistic way of saying that the US government will be writing the news stories in the countries that they have recently conquered so that their heinous crimes, such as torture in military prisons or bombings of peaceful civilians will go unnoticed by the general public. The critics also say though, that the blame cannot be put totally on the Bush administration, as this type of propaganda is an integral part of all fascist police states, and is already taking place all over the world anyhow. They cite Wikinews versus corporate news and have shown a stark contrast between the information posted on the two sites. In defense of their actions, corporate sources have stated that if they didn't cover up what they were doing, there would most likely be an uprising, so they are kind of forced to do it out of necessity - if they didn't have to lie to people, they most certainly wouldn't.

I've removed it from the story for now. Karen 01:27, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

propaganda[edit]

The "P" word is what this article is about. Carrying the fight in the media. How long will it take (or is it already happening) until lies over-take the truth? -Edbrown05 06:36, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A famous U.S. politician, Tip O'Neal, once said, "All politics is local." In answer to that, all news is local. I really believe the emergence of the Internet will allow any individual to report on their local news event. In the end, this should keep news honest, if Wikinews is up to it. -Edbrown05 06:50, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the fascist empire of the totalitarian states[edit]
