Protests against the Dominican Republic?[edit]

Is this actually true? My impression is that the protests are against the Dominican Republic president, which is different from protests against the country. The president is considered responsible for a great deal of the problems, especially the deportation. Maybe the protests were directed at the country, I don't know.

I'm afraid my attempt to change the lead does create that impression. MateoP? is it now misleading? And please sign your comments using ~~~~ four tildes. I'll look into the sources -Edbrown05 03:59, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, i just forget sometimes. We know for a fact that the protests were directly involving President Fernandez. Look at the source i gave, the protestors were shouting about killing Haitians and such. I didn't read any great anti-Dominican Republic thing into the protest and I think it should be assumed that the protest is limited to the president unless we can find more sources which say otherwise. --MateoP 04:24, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Also the source you added is "Dominican Today." I saw another article on their website which claimed that the president's bodyguards did not fire shots, while the Associated Press article says they did. Not sure if that's a great source. --MateoP 04:27, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it was obviously a protest against Fernandez, so the wording I hope is better now. I added the Dominican Today source because I thought it had some interesting quotes which give a sense of the position the president has taken on incidents within the Dominican Republic. -Edbrown05 04:52, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
