I gathered this was news, but infact even wikipedia is saying people think he got it from homosexual behavior before the 80s. [1] So maybe it's old news? What is actually new here, aside from WND bringing it up. I guess someone just confirmed it? Nyarlathotep 16:45, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A google search for the story turns up 4-5 day old sources, is WND credible enough to run from? My reaction is to say no, and that this has ceased to be news other than for muck-rakers. --Brian McNeil / talk 17:09, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually now that I look at it, I'm seeing lots of stuff. In fact his doctor denied it for a bit and just admitted it So the basic story is good in that people are just now comming forward. But maybe WND could be replaced with a source of some credibility and sanity? Nyarlathotep 21:01, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
fyi, The PLO has had even worse issues with repressing homosexuality than other Arab states. So it is realevent. EVen if it has no real bearing on his homosexuality. Nyarlathotep 21:02, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
IF he was a homosexual, I would like a source/link to prove it befire we go around making such claims. And if another agency is claiming he was a homosexual, them we would need to make sure to cover our asses and say "According to so and so..." If he contracted HIV before the 80s, he would have almost certainly died way earlier than 2004. Really effective, significantly life prolonging treatment wasn't available until the mid-90s. --+Deprifry+ 21:08, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Credible?[edit]

I really don't find this credible, and it doesn't cover what I read in some of the sources where it is alleged his personal doctor said he was poisoned and HIV was used to cover it up. You can't poison someone with HIV unless you're prepared to wait years for them to die. That, at the moment, is what our article implies. --Brian McNeil / talk 21:36, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I managed to find a few more sources that are a bit more reliable, but I think to be fair and balance the NPOV, we would at least have to make a mention if the claims that are likely bogous, but watch our step at the same time. I have copy-edited the article and how does it look? I marked {{ready}}. If its not, I am afraid I have done my best on this. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 21:38, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I think his doctors jumping about on the issue *now* is enough for a story. So it's just a question of avoiding the loony bins for the new information. haaretz seems fairly NPOV with many quotes from the doctor.

Also I think wikipedia has already gone through better citation examination that us, so I'd be tempted to just use their sources for his homosexuality & such, if you want to include that. Nyarlathotep 22:07, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You don't suppose Israel unethically "spiked" some Arab female prisoner hooker and sent her unto Yassir, do you? 204.52.215.107 17:01, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Remember, some straights also have HIV! 204.52.215.107 17:03, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
