The documentation is transcluded from Template:PD/doc because it needs to transclude the template itself.

Usage

If you specify no parameters (just use {{PD}}), it will display as shown above (same as {{PD-media}}).

However, setting parameters can change the text, image, or category used on the file.

image= can add an optional image to the right side of the table.
image_width= can change the width of the custom image (default: 64)
category= can change the category images go into (default: Public domain)
explanation= can change the text inside the table (default: This file has been released into the public domain by the copyright holder, its copyright has expired, or it is ineligible for copyright. This applies worldwide.)
