If you check Template:Latest news you'll get some ideas for making this template self-maintaining. Plus, you can factor in time differences by specifying details to hour level. So, done right the Australia portal will show a new day when appropriate. Changed recent news list to show the 10 latest news articles instead of recent dates with or without articles. A list of date sections with space for articles is okay for high volume news sites, but looks bad if empty due to low volume. --Miropolitan (talk) 00:31, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
