Proposed major change

I think that the template for indicating original reporting should be completely changed. When you go to the New York Times and look at an article they wrote themselves, do you see a bulbous template that proclaims "WE WROTE THIS ARTICLE OURSELVES!"? I think not. That's why it should be changed.

My idea is that the Original Reporting template should be made similar to the source template. Perhaps it could turn into:

This article features original reporting. See the talk page for more details.

That way, it is more similar to the sources template, and, in my opinion, less annoying. It would also be similar to what other media outlets do. Tell me what you think.

I agree. The 'Original reporting' template was created to explain a story that is conributed without sources to support the reporting. Although the inspiration for the template still has merit, it now seems fat and intrusive. Something less conspicuous is in order in my opinion.-Edbrown05 02:36, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

Some agreement. The purpose of the template is to provide linkage to the original reporting notes, and to highlight original reporting. Smaller might be better; but also positioning. Perhaps a box akin to the Template:wikipediapar at the top right of the sources section? - Amgine/^talk 00:22, 28 September 2005 (UTC)

That's an even better idea! It would definitely be the best way of pointing out original reporting. The template could be placed inline with the text, at the bottom of the entry. How does that sound? —MESSEDROCKER (talk) 00:29, 28 September 2005 (UTC)

Changed "member" to "member or members."

I changed "member" to "member or members," because I translated from the French Wikinews an article which I suspect may have more than one author, but "member" presumes there's only one. —67.21.48.122 20:12, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
