What you see now in Afghanistan is the remnants recruiting people who are sick and tired of having a foreign power on their land. Not to mention its a moderate burdon on our financial system, which is not in that great of shape. Other Problems are now popping up like the famine in Somalia, Japans earthquake relief efforts, ect..
