That's a lot of ash

Is anybody measuring the amount of ash being ejected into the atmosphere from this volcano? From what I've seen, there have been some very thick ash areas. And depending on how long the eruption lasts (Wikipedia said an eruption of this same volcano in 1821 lasted two years), this may have an effect on climate.

There's another volcano, Katla, which according to Wikipedia has the historical tendency to erupt shortly after this volcano...
