Gee. I don't know about this. If Nature intended on the mammoth too live in this day & age then it would be. I don't think we should be playing God & creator. What if we did clone 1&it comes with some ungodly disease. Let bygones be bygones.

The absurdidty of a badly-written epic from a couple of thousand years ago being used to try and dictate modern behaviour is staggering. If you want to see a better reflection of the insanity of such an appeal to nonexistent authority, go see the Amish planting their GM crops and using the Internet to decide when is best to harvest and sell.

I agree, not necessarily by scientist playing gods, but going against the way of the natural order if the animals were meant to survive they would have adapted, evolved, and the resurrection of an extinct species may have serious consequences, creating something without knowledge of how it would affect the world and its people,who knows you may be right, the animal may have chemicals coming from its blood an excrements that could cause some plague or epidemic when mixed with other bacteria or chemicals that may not have been native during the time it walked this planet. Its all unknown.

I personally think that it would be a good kind of experiment and sweet if we could resurrect these species. Imagine this, did this newly discovered dead mammoth knew that one day she will be discovered and from her a new generation would be walking on earth. Amazing.
