On Tuesday, on the final day of the first match day of group stages for UEFA Euro 2024, Group F has became a target of soccer fan's attention. Turkey has defeated Georgia 3-1 at strenuous game held on Westfalenstadion, Dortmund, Germany.
Turkish defender Mert Müldür scored first at 25th minute, but an equalizer goal from Georgia was scored 7 minutes later, by Georges Mikautadze. It was Georgia's first-ever goal as independent state. After that, both of teams created scoring opportunities but the first half finished with a tie. At the 65th minute mark, Turkish midfielder Arda Güler scored a "banger" and made it 2-1 with Turkey leading. Georgian keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili arrived in the penalty area of Turkish team to help Georgian's while taking corner. This allowed Turkish forward Kerem Aktürkoğlu to steal ball from Georgia, run tens of meters and score the third goal for Turkey.
Turkey has three points and has the advantage after the first matchday.
