On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had "made a decision to replace the commander of the United Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Yurii Sodol, with Brigadier General Andrii Hnatov." Zelenskyy did not give a reason.
Earlier, the leader of the Azov Brigade, Bohdan Krotevych said in a post viewed 800,000 times on Telegram that a general had "killed more Ukrainian soldiers than any Russian general," and that "I do care about is that combat battalion and brigade commanders are put on trial for losing an observation post, but a general is not put on trial for losing regions, dozens of cities and thousands of soldiers." Krotevych also said that "all the military personnel now understand who I am talking about because 99 percent of the military hate him for what he does." He also filed a complaint with the State Bureau of Investigation. Ukrainian Member of Parliament Maryana Bezuhla was also reported to have critized Sodol's performance. Zelenskyy did not respond to the claims.
