Despite being released from immigration detention following a decision of the Federal Circuit Court on Monday, the Australian government cancelled the world's highest ranked male tennis player Novak Djokovic's visa for a second time.

Australian Immigration Minister Alex Hawke used broad powers under Australia's Migration Act to cancel Djokovic's visa on "health and food order grounds". The decision could result in Djokovic being deported and banned from entering Australia for three years.

Earlier this week, it was discovered that Djokovic neglected to declare that he travelled in the fortnight prior to his arrival in Australia and that he was involved in public appearances following testing positive for COVID-19 on 16 December. In a statement released on Wednesday, Djokovic admitted there was an error in this paperwork but blamed an agent who had filled it out and acknowledged that attending public events after his COVID-19 diagnosis was an "error of judgement".

7news previously reported that Djokovic wouldn't leave Australia without a fight, indicating that he would challenge the Minister's decision in Court.
