The Labour Party led by Tony Blair has won a historic third term, with a reduced majority in Parliament. With a handful of seats left to declare, the Labour Party have reached the 324 seats required to form a majority government. Swings away from Labour to the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats were expected, but opinion polls had predicted the Labour win. Labour recieved 39% of the popular vote, the Conservatives 30%, Liberal Democrats 22% and other candidates 9%. The new Parliament will convene on Monday.
The election in the United Kingdom has resulted in a Hung Parliament.
The Conservative Party led by Michael Howard have had a surprise win in the general election.
