Welcome[edit]
Welcome!
62.141.48.177, welcome to Wikinews! Thank you for your contributions I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- And of course, stories need writing!
Here are some other hints and tips:
- I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikinews, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
- When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.
If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! irid:t 02:45, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Tor proxy?[edit]
You said that you were operating from a Tor proxy. But according to Tor, you aren't. I'll be scanning you shortly to determine if you're simply an open proxy. :) irid:t 02:45, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I'll stop now. 85.214.82.40 02:47, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well, how odd! Even though tor wouldn't confirm that you were an exit node, lookie what I got here:
Host 62.141.48.177 appears to be up ... good. Interesting ports on 62.141.48.177: Not shown: 65522 filtered ports PORT STATE SERVICE VERSION 21/tcp open ftp? 22/tcp closed ssh 25/tcp open smtp? 53/tcp open domain Microsoft DNS 80/tcp open http Apache httpd 2.2.4 ((Win32) PHP/5.2.3 SVN/1.4.4 DAV/2) 110/tcp open pop3 hMailServer 143/tcp open skype Skype VoIP data channel 443/tcp open ssh Bitvise WinSSHD 4.23 (sshlib 1.82; protocol 2.0) 3389/tcp open microsoft-rdp Microsoft Terminal Service 9001/tcp open unknown 9030/tcp open tor-info Tor nodes info httpd (check this) 9050/tcp closed unknown 9051/tcp closed unknown
