Welcome!

70.18.9.105, welcome to Wikinews! Thank you for your contributions I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikinews, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!

Thanks for creating portals, a couple things:

  • Please start them with the name portal at the begining. portal:place name instead of place name.
  • It is considered good practice to only create portals for subjects which we already have articles for. A portal is useless without articles. There are many subjects without portals, but articles. For example portal:Horse_racing would have lots of articles (see), some of the places you created, like Portal:Eastern Shore have very few articles
  • For cities and towns and tertiary divisions, we generally use the tertiary division, secondary division naming scheme. Portal:Eastern Shore, Maryland instead of Portal:Eastern Shore.

Thanks, and happy editing. Bawolff 22:22, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

This is the contributions page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify him/her. Such an IP address can be shared by several users.
