Welcome[edit]

Alixafar, welcome to Wikinews! Thank you for your contributions; I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Doldrums 07:18, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sindh strike article[edit]

First off, we really appreciate your contribution.

But sometimes users submit an article from somewhere else, not realizing that Wikinews cannot keep copy-and-paste versions of articles which are published elsewhere under a restrictive copyright. An article created in this way is a copyright violation, and Wikinews policy is to erase these even if they are excellent article ideas.

A better way to get an article on an exciting subject published here is to write an original article following the guidelines described in writing an article, or to write a brief explanation of the subject and include the url address of articles or websites to use as sources.

Thanks again! Doldrums 11:23, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

please do not publish articles which are copyright violations. write articles in your own words, do not copy paragraphs from sources, making use of information in the sources. repeated publication of copyright violations will get you blocked from editing wikinews. please do not let this happen. hi, u've uploaded this image Sindh rain.jpg but have not provided any source or licensing information. this information is needed to ensure that images on wikinews are not copyright infringements. note that an image taken from another news website can almost never be used on wikinews. images without licensing and source information will end up getting deleted. so pls add this information to the image (just click "Edit this page" on the image page and enter the details of where u got this image and what license is it being released in). if u need any help with this, more information is available at Wikinews:Fair use and Wikinews:Image use policy, and of course, u can always ask me or other wikinews editors for assistance. please do add this information as soon as possible.
