Welcome
[edit]B2xiao, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Style guide - how articles should look before publishing
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- Audio Wikinews could always use more contributors
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Anonymous101 :)

Merge
[edit]Unfortunately it isn't possible to keep revisions it isn't required from a copyright standpoint anyway because attribution is to Wikinews. Once have edited for 4 days you will be able to move pages with the history clciking on a move tag at the top of the page. But once the article has been duplicated it is hard to move them so I couldn't move them at that point. The over article you asked to bbe moved ws moed with history however. Anonymous101 :)

Publishing
[edit]When you work on articles that are disputed, or the likes, remember to change the date to the date of publish. Articles are generally listed on the date they get marked with {{publish}}. So if I cleanup and fix an article that was from May 27, and published it today (June 1), the article's date would be June 1. Good work BTW :-) DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 21:25, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
{{haveyoursay}}
[edit]You don't have to stick the template on every article, there's always the comment tab at the top. Its use is to try and make people realise they can edit the site, as well as let the regulars let off steam when they find a totally outrageous story. --Brian McNeil / talk 21:39, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
WWI mass grave article
[edit]Thanks for getting the article up. Basically, for whatever reason, my brain was having trouble putting a decent article together from the sources. Normally if I can't write an article, I just ditch it, but I figured this was a big enough story that someone should do something on it. Nice to see it got into the leads, too. Stanley Cup Game 5
[edit]Thanks for your edits on this article. After such a late night, I'll have to move on to other things for the evening - if you're still up, you can do any needed cleanups. Hopefully the story is generally in order. DL+1613 (talk) 05:13, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
