Dual licensing the interview[edit]

Hi there,

If you check the talk page for the interview there's a section on licensing. Raul wants to heavily re-use the content of this for the Wikipedia Signpost, so if you find the right section and say you're okay with it being GFDL as well as the Wikinews CC-BY-2.5 license then the Wikipedia community that doesn't read Wikinews will also get to see it. --Brian McNeil / talk 19:51, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Here's what I posted on Monica's page about this:

Can you take a look at this section of the discussion page for the interview and sign as others have done please? This is so Raul can lift large segments from the interview and use them in the Wikipedia signpost. He's hoping to do this for next week's issue. The Signpost is a mainly internal publication for Wikipedians, but it is widely read among the WP community.

While this requirement might seem odd, Wikipedia and Wikinews don't use the same license. Wikipedia is GFDL, and Wikinews uses the Creative Commons CC-BY-2.5 license. The two are not compatible as the license adopted by Wikinews is intended to get people to credit the site as a source, thus raising its profile. --Brian McNeil / talk 10:23, 13 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
