Support

I support you for your Accreditation. No one else has been on that page yet. Why? FellowWikiNews 15:19, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

But it means I have over 70% ;) nzgabriel 20:02, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
That's good. FellowWikiNews 01:42, 29 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia

Is this you on Wikipedia? FellowWikiNews 16:17, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes.nzgabriel 19:55, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why don't you put a link to that on your user page? FellowWikiNews 01:42, 29 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the suggestion, because I have used it. ;) nzgabriel 03:46, 29 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

???

Please do not put awards that you randomly found somewhere on your user page. Use the sandbox instead. FellowWikiNews 18:37, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

They're not random images, I got them off the page they are found on (page escapes me). nzgabriel 20:04, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
You thinking of this page? R2b2 20:35, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
yes.nzgabriel 04:15, 13 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Its generally a good idea to only put wikinews:Trophys on your page that someone has awarded you. Unless your talking about the I have written blah amount of stories award. You can put thoose on yourself if you fall under the category. user:Bawolff 04:29, 13 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry wrong link. was looking for Wikinews:Trophy. Bawolff ☺☻ 01:20, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Optional parametres in leads

There are currently no optional parameters (We're all too lazy to make them optional, and its not really worth the effort). If you want to not put a parameter just put

pram=

And it will be blank. Image is required however, see the intro if you can't find a suitable image. Thanks, Happy editing. user:Bawolff 02:25, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Farm dogs will not have to be microchipped in New Zealand - deleting

You put the speedy deletion template on Farm dogs will not have to be microchipped in New Zealand. To delete it I need to know why its listed for deletion. (I notice its a dupe, if all meaningful info's been merged then {{delete|Dupe with all meaningful info merged}} will do). Thanks Bawolff ☺☻ 23:50, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

article headlines

hi, i've seen u write quite a few NZ articles. i've sometimes changed the article headlines, following the guidelines in style guide. just thought i'd point out those guidelines to u, in case u've not come across them before. Doldrums 06:40, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've read the style guide in regards to the headlines, I just have trouble thinking of good ones.
i know, we all do. Doldrums 06:53, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

International Contribution

Would you like to try this option? It is under test. --Carlosar 11:54, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I may do the occasional one. nzgabriel 00:04, 29 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: sources

hi, i added the two sources for them to be used in the article. u r right that sources must not be added, unless they are used. but a guideline is that each article *must* have two or more sources. using a single press release is particularly problematic as it solely reflects the pov of one of the parties involved. so i added a pr from the other involved party and a press report for a more disintersted view. i may not get around to doing much more with the article, so feel free to replace the sources i added, making sure that two or more remain. cheers, Doldrums 09:40, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay. nzgabriel 09:47, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

Thanks nzgabriel for fixing the Psalm 83 article on Wikipedia. FellowWikiNews (W) 02:28, 29 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

That's alright, but the only thing I don't understand is why it was on the talk page in the first place?! nzgabriel 05:27, 29 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Print

Nice job on the kiwi print edition! one suggestion change the "If you would like to write, publish or edit articles, visit" on the bottom of each page address to www.wikinews.org.nz, that way people can view, and publish kiwi articles first. Brian | (Talk) | New Zealand Portal 09:38, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thanks for the suggestion. nzgabriel 19:46, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

You can't link Wikinews with an image that was uploaded to Wikipedia. I suggest that you upload it here or at commons. I hope this helps. FellowWikiNews (W) 12:55, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

NZ Portal "Redesign"

I've been playing around with the NZ Portal page and wanted your feedback on the changes I've made. You can see my design here. --R2b2 07:18, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for asking my feedback ;). I quite liked it, especially the top part with the top story, etc. And thanks for fixing the Browse Wikinews New Zealand section. Maybe increase the top story font? As we say in my TIM (text and information management) class: "graduated emphasis". nzgabriel 07:43, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I like it as well; lets get it live:) Brian | (Talk) | New Zealand Portal 08:23, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'll leave that up to you, Brain.nzgabriel 08:29, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Made a few other tweaks like bringing in a list of other Oceania stories (although it strangely resembles an Australian portal :) ), and moving the links to the other Oceania sites down to the bottom (as I think that the news is more important than links to other parts of the site - quite happy to put it back up the top if others disagree). I've also increased the Top Story font to make it stand out a bit.
I'm wanting to make a change to the New Zealand Intro template (just pretty it up a bit), but I'll wait for that - one thing at a time! :) --R2b2 09:35, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
You're a great designer! nzgabriel 10:04, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just wondering if its possible for you to create a version of the NZ Print Edition Logo with a transparent background? Basically would be good as it would blend in nicely with the non-white background... --R2b2 05:56, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay, will do. nzgabriel 06:21, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Looks good - thanks! --R2b2 22:11, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

the "wikinews hotline message" listed as an OR source in the article is a reading of a bloomberg article. the wikinews article itself is a copyvio of the bloomberg article as i've tagged. Doldrums 09:01, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

ok nzgabriel 09:09, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Edit

I started off trying to get them right-aligned but didn't have much luck so I've done an interim measure. I'm still working on getting them right-aligned and hopefully I'll figure it out soon... (I'm sure its possible - I just have to work out the CSS etc. :) ) --R2b2 10:36, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

okay, I noticed you were trying to do it in the test page on your user page.
Take a look at my test page again and let me know what you think - the change has had an unfortunate effect on the height of the headings for the lower two boxes but probably a step in the right direction? --R2b2 02:24, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yes, definitely a right step in the left direction (just a little joke). It's good except for the wrong height headings. Maybe counter the effect by increasing the text size? nzgabriel 02:45, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Right, think I've got it sorted... have another peek... (btw, do you think we should keep the brackets around the change or take them out?) --R2b2 03:24, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yep, that's great. And yes, I do think the brackets should be removed (I was already thinking about that). nzgabriel 03:45, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank You

Thanks for all your New Zealand work. I'm a Yank (wish I was a Kiwi) but New Zealand is a country I have explored/visited and have a great passion for. I enjoy reading anything and everything I can about what's going on and I keep a Yahoo RSS feed for WikiNews just for the New Zealand articles that pop up.

In addition to that I gotta tell you I've converted 3 people to being die hard fans of the All Blacks. I'm so freaking glad they won the cup. I download all the games off the internet as you can't get the Rugby Channel in the States right now.

Anyway, please keep up the good work. I love reading about my "spiritual" homeland. Maybe one day I can be an actual New Zealand citizen (my goal).

Jasenlee 01:26, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

You are very welcome, thanks for the thanks. nzgabriel 02:51, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your RFA

Nice comment, but is that to get more votes? Please correct me if I'm wrong. FellowWikiNews (W) 03:11, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

What do you mean by: "Is that to get more votes"? nzgabriel 03:13, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
You said: This user is greatful for my articles on New Zealand stuff. They left a comment on my talk page. FellowWikiNews (W) 03:14, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I was just letting the community know why this user had voted for me even though it is said that it was there third edit. nzgabriel 03:16, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
No problem. FellowWikiNews (W) 03:17, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Switcharoo

I can do - although I'm wondering whether we get rid of the "featured story" and have something else... (although the wording alludes me :) ) Whatcha reckon? --R2b2 06:49, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Do you mean like different wording, or actually get rid of the box? If you were to just change the wording then I think that would be alright, depending on what it is. There would have to be a discussion if the box was to be removed. Nzgabriel | My RfA | Talk page 06:51, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Leave the box but reword - I've had a thing up on the discussion page of the portal for a while but don't think anyone reads it! --R2b2 07:28, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Im not sure exactly what you could call it, maybe something like "Most recent news"? Not much ideas. --Nzgabriel | My RfA | Talk page 08:05, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Rollback

The "one click" rollback is available when you're looking at a diff for changes. At the top right where it says "current revision" you've a new rollback option. --Brian McNeil / talk 08:12, 31 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Mafart or Marfart?

in the Rainbow Warior article, can u figure out what the name is, the two sources disagree on this, and 'pedia its says "Mafart". Doldrums 05:38, 28 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

We should stick to what our sister projects use, Mafart. And I spoke to one person who agreed that it was spelt Mafart. --Nzgabriel | Talk 05:54, 28 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
