Hi Oscar!

Thanks for stopping by and expressing an interest to help out with music for Wikinews.

Rather than trying to write music for specific headlines, it might be more practical to compose theme songs that we can re-use for each broad category of news.

I propose we develop themes for "general news" (really busy arpeggios?) "weather" (perhaps a bit more relaxed or cheerful?), and "breaking news" (more urgent and ominous?). Later on perhaps something more rock-n-rollish for sports if we ever get more of that type of coverage.

I have been playing around with these themes over the weekend, so I will post links to some of my own compositions on the soundtrack subpage of the Wikinews:Broadcast page, but I encourage you to do the same once you have a chance to develop some of your own compositions.

If we end up with multiple versions of the various category theme songs, rather than a vote to choose the best ones, perhaps we can rotate different versions of the songs to provide a bit more variety? I'm open to ideas.

Thanks. — DV 08:12, 2 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
